chain of fools.

i thought i would do a little post featuring my usual day attire. not including the heels--unless i'm going out. when i go out it is my excuse to dress up, sometimes i dress up to go to trader joes, sometimes i wear sweats. i guess it depends on my mood. i'm quite mentally drained today as my brothers funeral is tomorrow/today and i feel like i'm about to explode into tears at any given moment. my fear with this is that i might not stop.

okay enough depressing stuff.

this dress is another one of my vintage treasures and in all the years i've had it, it's never been worn. it's a homemade number straight from the 60's. i love all things 60's, honestly. best decade ever. we shall call it BDE (notice the use of capitals--this is serious stuff) from now on. yes? in all actuality it would be the mid 60's thru the mid to late 70's in my opinion. can you dig it? (=; what is your favorite decade for clothing? or anything for that matter?

i almost forgot to mention my new studded bracelets i made today out of duct tape and studs. i got the idea from new york design shop. they have great diy ideas and the materials to make them with. be sure to check them out!

first i would like to thank everyone for all of your support. i realize it's a weird thing to come to a "fashion" blog and get some depressing bs from a complete stranger. but i really appreciate it and i just want to say "you rock!".

and since we are on the 'rock' subject, i will explain a little about my outfit. this is my staple leather jacket, i've had it forever and i love it. i slashed up this tee as i do with pretty much every tee i have. scissors are my best friend. the skirt was also a cut up t-shirt that i just quickly sewed together and voila the rest is history!

as you may have guessed by the title of the post, my brother passed away this morning. i am saddened beyond belief. i am dedicating this post to him, as he was an artist and fully supported the artist in me. i love you christian.

let me tell you one of the reasons that i love having an outlet so much:

today i find out that my brother is fighting for his life in the hospital. i go visit him and come home completely sick, nervous that the phone is going to ring and it might be "that" phone call. so, instead of wallowing in my misery, i pull up my boot straps and shoot an outfit. what better distraction? i am grateful to be inspired by something that can take me away from my sadness to a wonderland of sorts. i am thankful for many things right now--my health, my husband, my other love (my puppy), my family, my friends and my readers. thank you so much for all your sweet comments. it is very much appreciated and brings a smile to my face when i read every one.

so a little bit about the outfit. i found this sweetass ikat jacket on e-bay last week and freaked out. i got it in the mail this morning and it was more amazing in person than in the pics. it reminds me a bit of the laize adzer jackets of the 80's. i look at it and i see a work of art and i wanted to shoot it that way. my husband took these amazing pics by the way. (i love you baby!)

i hope you take something from this post. maybe think of at least one thing you are grateful for. life is fleeting, let's enjoy it while we can.

i don't know if it's the girl in me or what, but i am obsessed with all that glitters. as well as all things furry and feathery. when i went to zara the other day i found this dress for $9.99. yes i repeat--$9.99!! i grabbed another similar one to wear on valentines day. which is now a very special day because it was just last year that my husband proposed. i know, it's so romantic and mushy. okay back to the subject....clothing. i paired this dress with my disco pants from american apparel, i need new pants desperately (oh the drama!) haha! first thing on my wish list are 7 for all mankind vintage california bell bottoms. so hot! what items are on your wish list? do tell...
