lace it.

my pictures are back to normal crap quality, as i am taking them again. so, i have been diy'ing all day today, as my tweet peeps can attest to my tweets of laziness and lack of motivation. thank god for you girls, giving me online slaps and deadlines. my diy's are always quick as i am master of instant gratification. so i quickly cut off some cheap f21 skinny jeans, cut them up the front, put grommets in them and laced them up. diy #1 finished! second i started with a mens 2xl tee and made it into a dress which i will be wearing shortly. the tee i am wearing i cut up years ago. i hope you are all working hard on your tee's for the giveaway. oh and while you are at it, you have to check out this fab t-shirt that jenna at nyds made. it rocks, as does she! maybe you will get some inspiration too. check it!

also a bunch of bloggers are meeting up this sunday at space 15 twenty, would love to see you there l.a. peeps! will be there from 2-3 pm. i will post more on this tomorrow.

let me tell you one of the reasons that i love having an outlet so much:

today i find out that my brother is fighting for his life in the hospital. i go visit him and come home completely sick, nervous that the phone is going to ring and it might be "that" phone call. so, instead of wallowing in my misery, i pull up my boot straps and shoot an outfit. what better distraction? i am grateful to be inspired by something that can take me away from my sadness to a wonderland of sorts. i am thankful for many things right now--my health, my husband, my other love (my puppy), my family, my friends and my readers. thank you so much for all your sweet comments. it is very much appreciated and brings a smile to my face when i read every one.

so a little bit about the outfit. i found this sweetass ikat jacket on e-bay last week and freaked out. i got it in the mail this morning and it was more amazing in person than in the pics. it reminds me a bit of the laize adzer jackets of the 80's. i look at it and i see a work of art and i wanted to shoot it that way. my husband took these amazing pics by the way. (i love you baby!)

i hope you take something from this post. maybe think of at least one thing you are grateful for. life is fleeting, let's enjoy it while we can.

i don't know if it's the girl in me or what, but i am obsessed with all that glitters. as well as all things furry and feathery. when i went to zara the other day i found this dress for $9.99. yes i repeat--$9.99!! i grabbed another similar one to wear on valentines day. which is now a very special day because it was just last year that my husband proposed. i know, it's so romantic and mushy. okay back to the subject....clothing. i paired this dress with my disco pants from american apparel, i need new pants desperately (oh the drama!) haha! first thing on my wish list are 7 for all mankind vintage california bell bottoms. so hot! what items are on your wish list? do tell...

black is the new black.

if you read yesterday's post, the title of this post, and outfit, will make sense. i really am on a color kick, unfortunately my closet is not. the jeans i'm wearing were originally pulled for a shoot with joan jett. holla! i now call them my joan jett jeans. i picked up this ruffly sequin bolero number at a thrift store about 12 years back and i'm so glad i didn't get rid of it. but of course i am not the type to let things go easily. my husband can vouch and i will always have the same excuse:

"but i might use it on a shoot someday"
